Professor Emeritus Takahiko Yoshida Receives Hokkaido Social Contribution Award
On March 27, 2026, the 2025 Hokkaido Social Contribution Award (Distinguished Service for International Exchange and Cooperation) Ceremony was held at the Hokkaido Prefectural Government Office, and Professor Emeritus Takahiko Yoshida was honored with the award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the long-term training for African public health professionals and the promotion of international cooperation in the African region.
The Hokkaido Social Contribution Award (Distinguished Service for International Exchange and Cooperation) recognizes organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to international exchange and cooperation within Hokkaido, with the aim of promoting public understanding of these activities and expanding their reach. This award was granted following a recommendation by the JICA Hokkaido Center, acknowledging Professor Emeritus Yoshida’s long-standing collaborative achievements.
Professor Emeritus Yoshida has hosted the Japan International Cooperation Agency Knowledge Co-Creation Program (JICA-KCCP) “Health Systems Management for Regional and District Health Management Officers,” since 2008. He has dedicated himself to conducting annual training to improve regional health administration for public health professionals from 29 African countries. Furthermore, he has worked to maintain networks with the trainees after their return home, fostering human resource development and international cooperation in public health through follow-up visits and symposia, which led to this award.
We sincerely congratulate Professor Emeritus Yoshida on this prestigious award and wish him continued good health in the future.
