Asahikawa Medical University Foundation

The Message

Our university was established in Asahikawa in 1973 with the aim of contributing to healthcare in the Northern and Eastern regions of Hokkaido. Thanks to all of you, on November 5th this year, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary. Graduates of our university, including medical doctors and nurses, have been participating actively not only in Hokkaido, but across Japan and in many foreign countries, making progress in the fields of medicine and healthcare. We sincerely appreciate the cordial support and various forms of assistance you have given to us.

Since April of last year, our university has been operating under a new administration, but our educational philosophy remains the same. We are committed to fostering excellent healthcare professionals and researchers, improving medical care and welfare that are rooted in regional healthcare, and contribution to the enhancement of well-being in the international community. However, achieving our goals would be a formidable task amid the challenges posed by declining birthrate and a growing population of elderly people, as well as changing domestic and international affairs. In particular, no one has yet provided clear solutions to the issues facing regional healthcare in Japan. We believe that our mission lies in solving these challenges. We earnestly acknowledge the demands placed on our university by society and promise to continue trying our best to provide “living education” to our students, who will be responsible for Japan's future, while confronting the difficult issues in medicine and healthcare.

To commemorate our 50th anniversary, we are planning to renovate the welfare facilities for our students. Due to soaring raw material costs, significant expenses are expected, and it is not possible to realize this project with our own resources alone. We sincerely request your continued support and cooperation with our university foundation, endorsing the purpose of our new steps and this commemorative project.
