Philosophy
The Research Committee of Sports and Medical Sciences aims to deal medically with sports and various exercises that people with or without a disability participate in. It also aims to be a local, national, and international base to provide medicine and conduct research, and thus contribute to society.
Function
- To promote exercising for health and help people maintain and improve their health.
- To provide appropriate medical information to prevent sports injuries, improve sports performance, and care for people’s health when they participate in exercises as well as competitive sports.
- To conduct research activities to update and expand medical knowledge for people enjoying casual exercise as well as trained athletes.
Medical Provision
We dispatch doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, as event officials to local, national, and international sports events, where they support event organizers and do their utmost to give assistance if participants suffer from various injuries or diseases.
We also dispatch doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists as accompanying medical staff to various sports settings such as practice meetings, contests, and training camps, where they assist people participating in sports.
Research
We conduct research on exercise and sports to help local people maintain their health. On the basis of our research findings, we prevent athletes’ injuries and their recurrences and construct medical scientific theories to improve the performance of participants. To conduct research effectively, we have been strengthening cooperation with Asahikawa Medical University and other institutions. We publish our research, which is beneficial for local people and athletes.
Social Contribution
We continuously offer medical care to society and conduct research. We promptly publish our research in order to provide society with new findings on sports and medical sciences.
